Government Facilities for COVID-19
The government eased its quarantine restrictions as of June 1, 2020. As we go back to work and enter the new normal era, we must keep in mind that the virus is still spreading, and we should practice the required safety measures when leaving our homes.
This also means that the government should provide ample facilities in anticipation of the surge in cases as we reopen businesses and cities.
Below are the updates on government facilities handling COVID-19:
Licensed COVID-19 Testing Laboratories
As of June 16, 2020
To date, there are 65 licensed COVID-19 testing laboratories in the country – 48 of which are RT-PCR laboratories while 17 are GeneXpert. 144 out of 163 (88%) accreditation applications are in Stage III and above.

Bed Capacity
From hospital beds to mechanical ventilators, patients who will be admitted will be accommodated in identified COVID-19 referral facilities.
As of June 22, 2020, there 13, 13,927 hospital beds for COVID-19 patients:
Ward Beds: 1,255 out of 3,166 are available
Isolation Beds: 3,272 out of 9,379 are available
ICU Beds: 487 out of 1,382 are available
Meanwhile, there are 1,968 mechanical ventilators, 1,604 of which are available for use of COVID-19 patients in critical condition.
Mechanical ventilators are common medical equipment used to treat patients with pneumonia.
Quarantine Facilities
As of June 8, 2020
To augment the existing medical facilities, as well as ensure that probable cases remain isolated, existing government spaces and building are converted into quarantine facilities. As of writing, there are 46,333 beds in Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for COVID-19 cases (LIGTAS COVID centers) in all regions nationwide, broken down as follows:

LIGTAS COVID-19 centers are managed by the provincial or city government.
The National Government is also managing dedicated quarantine and isolation facilities called Mega LIGTAS COVID-19 facilities. Currently, there are 14 Mega LIGTAS COVID-19 facilities in Regions III, IV-A, and NCR, that can accommodate 3,190 people.
